Biles grew up at Spring Texas in the Houston metropolitan area after she and her sister Adria had been adopted by grandparents Ronald Biles and Nellie Biles. Simone was interested in the sport of gymnastics as a young girl when she took a field trip for day care in Bannon's Gymnastix and stayed there for 11 years, under the guidance of her trainer Aimee Boorman. Biles was awarded a silver medal in vaulting in the year 2010 as well as a bronze medal at the Women's Junior Olympic National Championships. Then she moved on to elite-level competitions in the year 2011. Two years later, she was the most dominant athlete in the field. Biles was distinguished by her consistent performance, exuberant personality as well as the difficulty she encountered in all four events such as vault, bars with uneven surfaces and balance beam.
