Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public talker. Feminist Frequency is a web site with video and blogs on the representation of women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic who has won awards for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which examines female representations in the popular media narratives. In her efforts to dispel the myths associated with women in popular culture, she works to raise issues related to targeted harassment against women and the other minorities of individuals in the internet world. Sarkeesian who has a Master's in Social and Political Thought from York University, is also an extremely sought-after public presenter. She has delivered speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Inquiring about gender and feminism since her early years, she founded her website Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was studying at the university. The woman with ambitions to create a web program that examined gender representations in video games and found herself in the middle for an online harassment campaign. However, the harassment didn't dissuade her. The experience only strengthened her journalistic skills as a feminist. In recognition of the many contribution she's made to women's rights, she's been an award winner. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winner for her media criticism and is the creator of Feminist Frequency an educational organization which studies the portrayals of women in popular culture stories.
